Luxe Cosmetique: Center of Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, Hyderabad, India
My doctors, Dr. Rajesh Vasu and Dr. BRN Padmini are the most humble, experienced, and loving human beings I’ve seen. They are experts in plastic and cosmetic surgery; I give you that. You will agree when you see me in person and not realize that I’ve had a reconstructive facial-cheekbone surgery. Plastic surgeries are sometimes required in RTA cases and other medical conditions for reconstruction because it’s damaged or broken. My cheekbone was shattered and they had to fix it. The doctor said, “Your eyeball was dangling without cheekbone support.” They did a fabulous job of reconstructing it; I have no idea how they did it without a scar on my face!
The whole point of this blog is, first, to thank the doctors and the team. Second, to encourage people to go to hospitals. Most of us don’t want to, right? It is difficult to comprehend the struggle that people go through in hospitals. But there are some amazing people who can even make this experience better and life changing. I was glad to go to the hospital because I got to meet them one more time. It’s therapeutic! On my way home after each dressing, I would feel warm & better. Where can you find people like this? Sometimes, I want them for myself, but then that’s just greed. So now I am ready to share them with this world and let them touch more people’s lives.

Now, imagine, for a minute, having to live with a scar on your face for the rest of your life. Even looking into the mirror could become a nightmare. It takes enormous time and energy to come to terms with it. Building enough courage to accept, grow, and move on needs mental fortitude. That could have been me, but it didn’t turn out that way! I still have no idea how they fixed my cheekbones, made my eye sit appropriately on them, and made my face look proportional. They used titanium plates to reconstruct it. The numbness around the area wears off over time. My face is alright now, and no one can tell that my face has been through so much.

Dr. Rajesh Vasu is easily one of the best plastic surgeons in India. He cares about his patients and believes this profession goes beyond saving lives. It is about the humanity and connection with people that comes with it. He does everything in his power to make the patient feel better and comfortable. He knows what is required and how to do it with utmost care. After talking to him for a few minutes, you feel lucky to have such a doctor taking care of you. Every time we met, he checked how I was feeling and explained the next steps for my treatment. He does it so that even something critical sounds possible to be sorted and gives you hope. Hope is quintessential for anyone in this situation. He is the most down-to-earth, funny &, most heartwarming person I have met. His profession has taken him places. He still is the doctor everyone asks for. He kept himself grounded, warm & honest. I can’t thank him enough for this “second life,” as he calls it, the treatments, and the hope he gave us. He was genuinely happy when I met him the other time, walking with the help of a walker.

Dr. Rajesh Vasu, Excellent plastic surgeon, gem of a person, & a dedicated surgeon.
The quote he said, that stuck in our head, “we will make sure to keep things as it is (my bones were shattered) who are we to take away what God has given you”
I am out of bed now. He looked at me , delighted and called it a miracle. He is the magician though! He is an internationally recognized, attends national and worldwide conferences. Keeps finding ways to help people in need. He is a surgeon who will leave a mark on you and this field without leaving a mark (scar, I mean) . Luckily, it all worked out for me. It just had to, especially given his dedication, devotion, and determination to help others!
He is passionate about plastic & cosmetic surgery, has immense knowledge in the field. Hires only the best to help people in anyway possible, also makes sure you are comfortable & heard. Dr. BRN Padmini is the most affectionate, attention-to-detail surgeon ever. Dr. Padmini is also among the best plastic surgeons in India. The first few times, we didn’t talk much. After a few surgeries, I was sent home. I was asked to come back periodically for dressings. She did my first dressing after the skin grafting surgery, and I cried with pain. She made sure someone was there to hold my hands. She didn’t waiver from doing her job. She was meticulous. She knows exactly what to do. The entire floor, even the building, might have heard the cry. She made sure the dressing was complete with utmost care. Her dedication to the patient and the job is unmatched. Salute! Later, she became one of my favorite people in the hospital, and I met her each time I visited. When she is around, there is a smile on your face. You are glad to be there. I keep asking about my subsequent treatment and check on it whenever I am there.

She is an angel, who happens to be a excellent surgeon. Humble being. Dedicated & devoted.
She would look at me for a few seconds and tell me about the symmetry of my face. One doesn’t know if it’s not okay. It all looked acceptable to everyone. She would point out exactly where the issue is; even the slightest change is noticed. Dedicated, supportive, humble, and an excellent surgeon. Her smile will tell you, you are getting better, and her concern look will tell you if something is not as expected. Her treatments will always make you better. She is joyful, hopeful & supportive. Wish her all the best. She is helping people to make them feel better and happy.

Dr. Ankita Harijee is a fun person to be around and another reconstructive surgeon on the team. I had a few interactions with her; she gave straight answers and explained things. She makes you smile and provides answers to all your questions. I met her very little during the first few months since she traveled to different hospitals for fellowships. Now that she is back, I am getting to know her better. She makes everything easy, better, and simple. I wish her luck. Just like they are to me.

Nurse Roselind is an honest, hard-working, and talented nurse. She is a great supporter and a hope-giver. My sis-in-law told me about her when they took me to dressings. Roselind knows her strengths, what’s needed for the patient, and how to keep them comfortable. I remember asking for her so many times when I was in the operating theatre. Most of my operations were done with epidural steroid injections in the spine. I could sense & hear everything around me, but numb below my hip. I kept asking for her. When she is there, she gives me hope by just holding hands. She is a fantastic person, and she kept me in her prayers. When it’s her time to work, doctors requests for her in the OT. She is a thorough professional.
And there is Mr. Ashok, the VAC machine handler. He is such a humble soul. He ensures it’s working well and takes your call anytime you ring him, asking about the machine. He did some of my dressing too. He handled the wound with utmost care to ensure I didn’t have to endure more pain. It took time; he did it with patience. He was there for us when we needed him. He did my knee dressing at home when I had COVID. He has been a big support throughout. He smiles at you with all warmth in his heart. I wish him all health, prosperity, and happiness.
Finally, the coordinator, Mrs. Deepika, is a sweet soul. She always enquires about you and your health. She smiles at you and comforts you when you are in pain. Gives you hope saying you will get well soon. Being busy handling things at the hospital, she makes sure to meet you and ask about your well-being—all with a smile. You feel good seeing her. Such a lovely person. Dedicated to her work. Always ready to answer your calls and queries, understands your situation, helps you out in every way possible. Makes sure it’s alright, on time, and planned right— a charm for the Luxe Cosmetique team.
I have recovered fast thanks to doctors, nurses, and supporting people. Though I had my panic attacks and meltdowns, I felt better, good, and hopeful every time I was in Luxe Cosmetique. I want this world to meet them and experience this special care. I made it through with my family’s help and this incredible team’s support. They have changed me into a better person. They played a great part in my recovery, and I never had to go through counseling for trauma because they were there to ask after my mental health, and it just felt right to be there with them. I am much better now. You will know it when you see me.
It’s all alright. You will make it through as well, and you will be alright soon. You too will get better. Just believe it’s possible! Rest will follow!
